What is a Virus?

A computer virus, much like a flu virus, is designed to spread from host to host and has the ability to replicate itself. Viruses cannot reproduce without a host cell, computer viruses cannot reproduce and spread without programming such as a file or document.

Types of Virus

There are several types of computer viruses that can pose a threat to your identity or the data on your computer.

Browser Hijacker

  • Its purpose is to increase advertisement revenue. This changes part of your internet browser and redirects it to a certain site.

Directory Virus

  • This type of virus just moves files to another place in your directory making it look like it disappeared.
Trojan

  • Trojan is one the of most dangerous because it disguises itself to look like an important program and when activated it can steal login information. The only thing different about this virus is that it doesn't spread. 
Memory Resident Virus

  • This type of virus hides in on ram and when the operating system runs, the virus activates and infects all file that are opened.
Overwrite Virus

  • This type of virus take a file and infects it making some parts of the file useless.
